Description
This is a closeup of a Southern, or Australasian, Gannet taken at the Cape Kidnappers Gannet colony near Napier, New Zealand. This is the only mainland colony in New Zealand and one of a very few in the world. The buff coloured head and blue eye ring are distinctive of the species.
